Monroe Scholars Book Award Program

Join VCU Alumni for the eighth annual Monroe Scholars Book and Author Luncheon, featuring award-winning author Jill McCorkle. McCorkle is a professor of creative writing at North Carolina State University. Five of her 10 published books have been selected as New York Times Notable Books. She is the winner of the New England Book Award, the John Dos Passos Prize for Excellence in Literature and the North Carolina Award for Literature. Meet McCorkle at the luncheon and purchase an autographed copy of her novel “Life After Life.”

When: Noon Wednesday, May 2
Where: Jefferson Lakeside Country Club, 1700 Lakeside Ave., Richmond, VA 23228
Cost: $75 for an individual ticket or $600 per table of eight. $50 of each ticket and $400 of each table is a tax-deductible contribution.
Register: By April 25

Proceeds fund scholarships for the Monroe Scholars Book Award program, which provides a special recognition award and a $1,000 scholarship to high school students who meet the criteria of leadership and scholarship and who enroll at VCU.
