Join "Team Dentistry" for a fun-filled, scenic outing on the Capital Trail. Choose a 20-mile or 30-mile ride on this dedicated, paved pedestrian and bicycle trail that connects the commonwealth's past and present capitals of Jamestown and Richmond along the scenic Route 5 corridor. The Capital Trail traverses about 52 miles alongside some of Virginnia's most beautiful and historic sites on one of the first inland routes in North America.

30th Anniversary Jamaica Project Reception

For 30 years, School of Dentistry students have traveled to Jamaica. In addition to oral health education, their procedures have included extractions, restorations and cleanings. Students consider the project a highlight of their dental education, often setting the stage for incorporating humanitarian services throughout their professional careers. Toast to the success of the program with a Red Stripe and light snacks. Enjoy viewing moments from the past 30 years on the giant screen while sitting under an umbrella watching the (inflatable) palm trees sway to the sounds of Bob Marley.

The School of Dentistry Class of 1957 will meet prior to lunch at 10:30 a.m. at the Omni. The group will take the shuttle to the School of Dentistry for a tour (optional). No charge.

Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Highlights Tour

Enjoy a 50-minute guided “highlights” tour of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. The VMFA houses a permanent collection of 33,000 works of art. Of particular interest is the art nouveau, art deco, and modern and contemporary American art.

Tour historic sites aboard a classic air-conditioned trolley, with a driver and a guide who combine the rich history of Richmond with great stories along stops from the state Capitol, historic Monument Avenue and more.

Peace. Love. Party! Join us for a journey back in time! Dust off your bell bottoms, platform shoes, Members Only jackets and big hair (optional, but fun). It will be a groovy time with the funky fresh sounds of Dean David Sarrett’s band and a DJ. Make sure you “Stop - In The Name of Love” for an unbelievable spread including top round of beef, crab and red curry coconut shooters, penne pasta sautéed with choice of assorted toppings, southern-style buttermilk fried chicken biscuits with sweet corn gravy and so much more! Beer and wine from our glow bars are also included. Boogie oogie oogies and good laughs with all attending classes. Applaud the outstanding achievements of our weekend honorees James Burns, D.D.S., Ph.D. (D.D.S.'72/D; Ph.D.'80/M), recipient of the Dr. Harry Lyons Outstanding Alumnus Award; Michael McMunn, D.D.S. (D.D.S.'77/D), posthumous recipient of the Dr. James H. Revere, Jr. (D.D.S.'65/D) Outstanding Service Award; and Rebecca Angus, D.D.S. (D.D.S.'07/D), recipient of the Outstanding D.D.S. Graduate of the Last Decade Award.
