Reunion FAQ

What are the dates for Reunion in 2018?
April 20-22, 2018. Please note, this year's Reunion falls on the same weekend that NASCAR is bring held in Richmond. Traffic, hotels and restaurants are likely to be full. We strongly recommend that you make your hotel reservations early and monitor traffic into Richmond closely.

What schools are participating in the MCV Campus Reunion?
The schools of Allied Health Professions, Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing and Pharmacy are hosting reunions. Allied Health Professions does not follow the five-year class reunion format. Instead, various departments celebrate during milestone years.  

Who is invited?
Five-year classes are invited to attend as well as those who graduated more than 50 years ago. In 2018, classes ending in 3 or 8 are invited. Other classes can participate if there is alumni interest.

Why should I attend my class reunion?
You will see old friends and classmates, hear from faculty, explore new buildings, learn about campus changes and see the city of Richmond at one of the most beautiful times of year.

When does registration open?
Jan. 12, 2018

How do I register to attend?
Look for your invitation in the mail during the month of January or early February. You can also register online once registration opens.

What are the costs to attend?
This depends on the events you are interested in attending. Some activities have no charge. Others, such as dinners or parties, charge $40 or more.

How can I find out who from my class is attending?
Registrants will be listed online in the “See who’s coming” section of the webpage.

What is appropriate attire for the weekend?
Dress is generally casual for the weekend. For dinners, receptions, the Grand Alumni Brunch, etc., coat and tie or sports coats are recommended. April in Richmond tends to be warm during the day and chilly in the evening.

What is your cancellation policy?
No refunds will be issued after April 7.

What are my hotel options? Is there a host hotel?
Reunion headquarters is located at the Omni Richmond Hotel, located in historic Shockoe Slip. Rooms during the weekend are $175 per night single/double. Call (888) 444-6664 and ask for the MCV Alumni Reunion rate or make your reseveration online. Other hotels in the area include:

What is the cut-off date for booking my hotel room at the Omni?
March 30

I am interested in booking a suite at the Omni so I can host some of my classmates.
Please contact Diane Stout-Brown (B.S.W.'80/SW), senior director, VCU Alumni, at (804) 828-7020 or dstout@vcu.edu. Suites are on hold should anyone from our group wish to reserve them but they must be reserved through the VCU Alumni office.

Where will I park during the weekend?
Valet parking is available at the Omni for $25 per day with unlimited in and out privileges. Parking for those attending events on campus is available on Friday, April 20, in the 8th Street Parking Deck and on Saturday, April 21, in the N Deck.

Is any transportation provided?
Yes, a Reunion shuttle bus runs throughout the weekend beginning at 11 a.m. on April 20. The bus departs from the Omni Richmond Hotel and loops through campus approximately every 20 minutes. There are numerous stops on the medical campus for drop off and pick up. Additional transportation will also be provided for specific class parties and Reunion events. Refer to the Reunion registration brochure to find out if transportation is being provided to your event or check at Reunion headquarters.

What if I have special dietary needs? Who should I contact to make arrangements for my meals?
Please contact the Reunion hotline at (804) 628-8015 and indicate which events you will be attending. You will be put in contact with the appropriate individual who is responsible for the event menus.

Can children attend? Are there any activities for children or child care during Reunion weekend events?
Since there are so few people who bring their children to Reunion, we have not planned any special events or activities for them. Most events are suited for adults only. The MCV Campus Block Party can be enjoyed by all ages.

My spouse does not plan to attend my class party with me but is planning to come for the weekend. What is available for him/her to do while I am away?
There are a multitude of activities and sights to see in Richmond. Please visit Richmond.com for a listing. Among these include a canal cruise, Segway tours and brewery tours. Look for information in your Reunion registration brochure.

How can I make a class gift?
Reunion class pledges and gifts can be made online.
