This course, offered by VCU's Center for Corporate Education, gets you ready for the exam with a 12-week exam prep which includes five modules that cover the SHRM Body of Competency and Knowledge:

• HR competencies: Leadership and navigation, ethical practice, business acumen, relationship management, consultation, critical evaluation, global and cultural effectiveness, communication
• People: Talent acquisition and retention, employee engagement, learning and development, total rewards
• Organization: Structure of the HR function, organizational effectiveness and development, workforce management, employee relations, technology and data
• Workplace: HR in the global context, diversity and inclusion, risk management, corporate social responsibility, employment law and regulations (U.S. only)
• Strategy: Business and HR strategy

When: Aug. 28-Nov. 13 (Tuesday evenings)
Time: 6-9 p.m.

More about the instructor: Cindy Bullock, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, brings more than 15 years of strategic HR planning and execution experience, inclusive of all HR program areas. She holds an MS in Human Resource Management and a Graduate Certificate in Strategic Human Resource Management. Cindy currently serves as the Director of Human Resources for the Virginia Department of Juvenile Justice and has experience in the private sector and with owning her own dental staffing organization.
