Facebook Live: COVID-19’s Impact on Health Care Preparedness and Policy

Join VCU Alumni for a special Facebook Live discussion with Sarah Raskin, Ph.D., assistant professor in the homeland security and emergency preparedness program in the VCU L. Douglas Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs, and Kathryn Howell, Ph.D., assistant professor in the urban and regional studies/planning program at the VCU L. Douglas Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs. They'll talk about COVID-19's effects on health care policy and the response of health care systems, pulling from their recent research, coursework, and regional and national interviews. 

 

 Dr. Sarah Raskin is an assistant professor in the Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness department at the L. Douglas Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs. Dr. Raskin is a medical anthropologist who examines social, contextual, structura, and ethical determinants of health problems and health care access and use among historically marginalized populations. She seeks to instill the value and importance of listening in the lives of her students, the next generation of scholars and engaged citizens. 

 

Dr. Kathryn Howell is an Assistant professor in the Urban and Regional Studies program at the L. Douglas Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs and the co-director of the RVA Eviction Lab. Dr. Howell investigates ways to interrupt ongoing patterns of migration, displacement and segregation in cities. Her work focuses on affordable housing and public spaces to explore redevelopment, displacement and governance. Thank you for being here with us today!
