VCU Black History Month Event - Vogue: A History
4 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. Feb. 11, 2021
Voguing is a highly stylized modern dance that is closely tied to ballroom culture, a community created by Black and Latinx LGBTQ+ youth in the 1980s. There are many subgenres in vogue, and the style continues to evolve every day. In this program, sponsored by OMSA and RecSports, you’ll learn a brief history and the origins of voguing, followed by a voguing dance lesson. Bring water and a towel, and get ready to sweat as you strike a pose!
