The John S. Oehler Lecture for Educational Leadership
5 p.m. - 6 p.m. April 10, 2013
The VCU School of Education will host its annual John S. Oehler Lecture for Educational Leadership on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 from 5:00 to 6:00 pm. in the main parlors of the VCU Sports Medicine Building, 1300 West Broad Street (just west of the Siegel Center). The lecture will be followed by a reception.
The Oehler Lecture has always brought nationally known speakers to our campus to present and meet with students and faculty. This year's speaker is Peter Smagorinsky, professor of language and literacy education in The University of Georgia, Athens. He is among the world’s most authoritative and prolific voices for educational reform. He is a scholar of international renown — in his own field — and in the related fields of cultural psychology, communication, human development, composition, and rhetoric. His scholarship seeks not only to refine the theory of human development but also to inform evidence-based practice.
