VCUL Artistic Mansions Lecture
2 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. April 02, 2022
Charles Brownell, Ph.D., professor emeritus of art history at VCU, and Louise Brownell, registrar emeritus at the Maryland Historical Society, return to VCU Libraries for an encore lecture on the historic architecture found in the once-glittering mansions on West Franklin Street in the heart of VCU’s Monroe Park Campus.
“Artistic Mansions IV: Adorning Mansions I” will feature an exploration of decorations made of wood and tile. This year's lecture will be hybrid, both in person and virtual, and following the lecture, the Brownells will provide clues for going exploring on self-guided walking tours in the West Franklin Street vicinity.
