The Legacy Scholarship program contributes a sense of tradition, heritage and continuity to VCU alumni.
VCU Alumni and the MCV Alumni Association of VCU each annually awards at least one $1,000 scholarship to an incoming student who is the child or grandchild of a graduate. The Alumni Merit Scholarship, sponsored by VCU Alumni, is available to freshman students who meet admissions criteria for Presidential, Provost or Dean's Scholarships. Selection of scholars is made on the basis of merit in the areas of academic achievement, artistic talent (when applicable), leadership and community service.
The Monroe Scholars Book Award is given annually to a high school junior selected by their school. Those students who apply and enroll at VCU receive a $1,000 scholarship from VCU Alumni. Currently, schools in Richmond, Charles City, New Kent, Powhatan, Prince George, Amelia and Dinwiddie participate. Nominations open in early 2020.
The MCVAA sponsors seven school-based scholarships and has contributed more than $500,000 to a variety of scholarship and fellowship programs in support of all the schools on the MCV Campus. The MCVAA school-based scholars are recommended by each of their respective deans in recognition of academic excellence, leadership and/or service to the community and the university.
