Yes, VCU is a state-supported institution, but in reality we call ourselves "state located." On July 1, 2011, VCU will receive $41 million less in government funding to support in-state student tuition than it did the year before. All told, between fiscal years 2008 and 2012, state support for Virginia students at VCU will have been reduced by a net $63.5 million – about 31 percent. This is the largest reduction among four-year institutions in Virginia.
