Theatre VCU's "Frankenstein: Dawn of a Monster"

7:30 p.m. April 10 - 5 p.m. April 19, 2015

"Frankenstein: Dawn of a Monster" is a new exploration of Mary Shelley's life and her novel, "Frankenstein," considered to be the first true science fiction masterpiece, and written during a time when a powerful, intelligent woman was considered monsterous.

The production is woven with humor and violence, tragedy and revelation as it fuses events from Mary Shelley's life with scenes inspired by her novel. Betrayal and anger set Shelley and The Monster on a violent path through 19th century London as their words collide and shatter into violence.

"Frankenstein: Dawn of a Monster" crakles with the horror of a monster in the making, a descent into insanity and ultimately Mary Shelley's triumph over self-destruction.
